Consider myself lucky to have lived in the Netherlands from 1976 – 1982. I was stationed at RNLAF Soesterberg with the U.S. Air Force.
I met my wife from Utrecht, and we’ve been together 31 years now.
I’ve been many places in my life, but almost any night on the Leidsplein in Amsterdam and you’ll have a good time.
The sights, the smells, and people everywhere just having a good time.
We return to the Netherlands every couple of years to visit family in Driebergen.
I love the Dutch culture! and the openness of the people. I could sit at a sidewalk cafe’ drinking coffee all day just watching the people pass by.
I think the Americans need to follow the Dutch lead on soft drugs, and tax it. The police will never control it so allow companies to sell it and pay tax.
In my opinion, smoking weed is so much more mellow than drinking. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone smoking a joint get into a fight, but I’ve seen numerous people drinking alcohol get into some terrific fights. Liquid stupid is what I call it.
Anyway, some Americans are just jerks and I apologize for them.
I love Amsterdam, i love Queen’s day, the best party in the planet, full of culture, tradition, originality, joy and everything that you would like a party to have (including free concerts all over the city).
If there’s someone that says the opposite, it’s pretty bad taste!!
I live in Amsterdam for 6 years and im still taking pictures everywhere, even have a YOU TUBE account where i post videos of this beautifull city
